In 1934, Harold T. Ames, the CEO of Dusenburg, filed for a patent for retractable headlamps. The lights became one of the defining details on his best project, the Cord 810. It was the last great car from the Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg triumvirate. The company could not survive the Great Depression.
